Move Over Bathmat! Rugs in the bathroom…

I have wanted to snazz up my Master Bath for awhile now.  In all of its pink, blue, cracked tile 1920 glory…here is a photo from when the previous owners lived here to give you an idea.

In the two years since we have lived here, the room sadly does not look much different.  Except I don’t have a TV.  I have long thought a vintage kilim or oriental rug of some sort would really help the space. (and help cover the sad floor tile)  While shopping for a client yesterday, I stumbled upon the perfect one.  I knew it instantly.  I was excited, I had that little thrill in my heart, but then, no price tag.  Argh!  The shop owner came back to tell me quite apologetically that it was not for sale, just a prop in the booth.    Boooooooooooooooooooo.

Nevertheless, I thought I would share some inspiration photos.  There are many styles of bathrooms here, and the rugs all look great, don’t you think?  Move over fuzzy bathmat, hello Character!

I know this is supposed to be a beautiful photo, but it still makes me chuckle.  I bathe my four babes all together, and I am a sopping wet mess after every bath time.

This cute little striped number works, too!  This bathroom is having a party!

Does practicality trump beauty here?  Do you prefer a bathmat you can throw in the washing machine over a rug you would need to have cleaned once a year?  I will say though, these types of rugs (especially if they are older) can take A LOT.  I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

Love the idea of a antique rug in the bathroom. Naomi from Design Manifest did this in her new washroom and its beautiful, as are the images you share here! Too bad about the rug you saw…why do booths insist on taunting us with these props! Your bathroom has some serious potential. Work your magic girl.

Hi Tiffany, ooooo, I will have to check that out! And I kno what you mean, as a former booth owner, I would have NEVER done that! Such a tease. 🙂 And it will take a TON of magic for that bathroom! 🙂 xoxo, G

Love this look. Currently on the hunt for one for our boys’ new bath.

And, that pic of Jenna Lyons cracks me up. That’s exactly what I look like when I give my kids’ baths 🙂

Emily, your comment made me laugh. 🙂 I know, right? I mean, I think if they had suggested it, I would have been like, “you want me to what??!!” Ahhhh, real life. Thanks so much for your comment! G

Great post! I was just checking out the Design Manifest blog where she’s done the very same thing in her new bath. Fabulous!
