08 Jul Conversation Seating – Four Chairs In The Round

Our addition is coming along (painting begins today!), and I spent a bit of time yesterday sketching layout ideas in crayon on the floor of it (the tile is not in yet so it is just hardie board). I quickly discovered that because of the design of the room, there is not a ton of space for seating. Therefore, I am pretty much relegated to loveseat, coffee table, and chair (maybe two), or a four chair surrounding a coffee table seating arrangement. (I even thought about this for my living room, too.) Our addition is not meant for a ton of seating so I am going for a more cozy feel. You can see from the pictures below that this style looks great from traditional to transitional to modern.

You can see here that these four chairs are all different, but they are upholstered in the same fabric to create congruency.

I’ve got a longish, narrow front room with a fireplace that I’ve thought about doing this with a table in the middle tall enough for game playing, computer work or even extra dining space. Right now the table sits between two love seats that face each other. I was going to just recover or replace them but now I’m back to considering the four chairs. I guess it’s most common to keep the chairs identical since all but one of the photos has all four chairs in the same style and fabric. I think I’m drawn to the idea of having only two the same instead as on the picture fifth from bottom shows. It seems more likely that we could use two identical chairs in other spaces if/when we move than figuring out how to use four again if there’s not a similar space for conversation seating in the new house. I also like that it’s a slightly different take on the idea and adds interest. Thanks again – more for me to think about!

Posted at 22:00h, 08 JulyJessica, I honestly did not notice the difference in the chairs when I chose that picture, I just looked at it and knew that I liked it! I think if the fabric is the same or similar, you can mix however you want! Send me a photo if you end up doing this!
