Yes, I’m talking about peacock mirrors

Yes, I’m talking about peacock mirrors

If you’ve been a member of the blogosphere for a few years, you have probably read a post like this before – the ode to the peacock mirror.  A few years ago, you had to drop a large chunk of change to get one, but there are definitely more affordable ones out there now.  In case you’ve forgotten how lovely peacock mirrors are, here’s a reminder.

Notice the wide variety of design styles in those photos.  The peacock mirror acts as a beautiful accent in all of them, and though I have racked my brain, I cannot think of one type of interior where this mirror would not look good.  “Room, meet Pizzazz.  Pizzazz, meet Room.”   I think it may be a new classic, something my daughters are finding years from now at estate sales (if they’re into that) and getting excited about.

Need to find one now?  Here’s what is available to you (most expensive to least expensive):

Pottery Barn’s Peacock Mirror is pricey at $1399 but big in size at nearly four feet by five feet.  The silver tone (it is metal vs. wood/resin) to it gives it a different look than most of the others that are gold-toned.  It’s a beauty!

Restoration Hardware’s Peacock Mirror comes in two different sizes ranging from $715-$915 (on sale).  Lots of detail on this one makes it a real stunner.

ZGallerie’s Marrakesh Mirror is a good size at around three feet by three feet and is $299.

Wisteria used to have a giant peacock mirror listed around 2K, but all they have on their site now is the Baby Peacock Mirror.  It is around the same size as the one from ZGallerie, but it is on sale for $231.20 until March 24th.  I think I like the coloring on this one from Wisteria better than the one from ZGallerie.

I snagged one of these Baby Peacock Mirrors for a crazy steal yesterday in the back room of Wisteria in Dallas, and I LOVE it!  If you have a Wisteria in your area (I don’t think there are very many), you need to be shopping the back room.  Yes, there are many items in there that are broken beyond repair (even to me so that’s saying a lot!), but you can often find accessories they just had too many of that are awesomely priced, and other treasures.  I have a bone inlaid tray from there that was in the back room (they call it “The Flea”) because it was missing one piece.  It was marked down to $30, AND I found said missing piece on the floor.  Crazy, I tell ya!  It’s worth the trip usually.

And because I love all things vintage, here is a beauty I spied on Etsy.

Gorgeous, right?  What do you think of peacock mirrors?  Are you over it or ready to keep ’em comin’ for years to come?

LOVE a peacock mirror! So elegant! Might have to pick up one of those Resto ones!
You were very lucky with your Wisteria find (and to have a Wisteria near you!).
