Grasscloth Wallpaper and Progress

Grasscloth Wallpaper and Progress

I have had an eye on putting grasscloth wallpaper in my home for awhile now.  After pondering and pondering, I finally decided to use it in our bedroom to cozy it up a bit.  Our Master Bedroom is kind of a mess, and an overall difficult room to design.  Nothing about it is symmetrical – literally nothing.  The windows are not centered on the wall, the fan is not centered on the ceiling, the doorways are not centered – you get the idea.  It may be the most difficult room I have ever done space-wise.  The room also felt very cold, and I loved the idea of warming it up with grasscloth wallpaper.  A room with grasscloth just makes me want to snuggle.

Love this budget friendly design with the wallpaper framed in molding!

Of course, it looks beautiful in color, too!

Grasscloth wallpaper is a green product and does not give off gases like a vinyl wallpaper would.  It has its imperfections, and the seams are visible.  So you have to decide if you can deal with those factors.  For me, the answer is yes and yes.  The natural organic feel of it is so appealing to me.

The wallpaper is in!  I can see progress, and I am getting super excited!  Yes, we are still sleeping on a mattress on the floor.  And yes, this will also be remedied soon.  More to come on my Master Bedroom’s progress!

Yes, it is Schumacher.  It’s okay for a girl to splurge every once in awhile, right?  Although since I purchased this, I have heard Sherwin Williams has some really beautiful grasscloth wallpaper options!

I love the hint of shimmer, and the champagne color changes depending on how the light is cast on it.  We literally stared at samples on the wall for months before deciding.

What do you think of grasscloth wallpaper?  Where would you use it in your home?

I LOVE grasscloth! We plastered over some in our den when we moved in (stuck to 80’s fake wood paneling which was glued to the 1930’s plaster) and I now wish I’d tried painting it before ditching it–a shop here did that, and while it’s not Philip Jefferies it does look pretty good. Can’t wait to see the design come together!

    Grace,

I absolutely adore your blog. I look forward to the daily decorative inspirations you and your project provide. Although I too love grasscloth, I had a chuckle when I read this, as a good portion of my childhood home growing up was covered in it 🙂 Thanks for the fond memories with today’s post!

The hubs has been wanting to put that EXACT wall paper in our living room for about a year (at least)!!! Not even kidding here! I’ll have to show him this post!

BTW, love the personality of your blog and the accessibility of its content (re: not just completely unattainable design, DIY, budget saving ideas, etc). So many design blogs are gorgeous to look at but the content is inapplicable to my home (and budget). Since I’ll be home for a while, I’ve been obsessed with design blogs & Pinterest, and have enjoyed seeing your new posts pop up in my Reader! 🙂
