Beyond White Trim

Beyond White Trim

I will tell you, I love trim.  I stand in the aisle of the home improvement store and stare at it, dreaming what I can do with it.  In this next year, I want to plan out and draw a trim project for every ceiling of every room.  More on that later…

For the past few years, I have loved rooms that are cream or white with painted, colorful trim.  It’s a nice change from the typical wall color and white trim.  In fact, I tried to work this concept in my own home when I was trying to figure out my dining room.  It just didn’t work out, but in my mind, the color story would have been similar to the gorgeous photo below.  (note that ceiling!!!)

Of course, is there anything as classic as black?  If you want instant elegance, paint your walls white, and your trim and doors black. I find this works especially well in newer homes that need a little added character.

But assuredly, a little color can really bring a space together.

The next room to think about decorating is our guest room/office.  I will go ahead and tell you that right now, it is stacked to the ceiling with things I need to put away and organize.  Two walls of it are windows, and I think a creamy white with shaded trim would be really lovely.  I will spare you a photo of the room now, but here is what it looked like when the previous owners lived here.

Tons of potential, right?  What would you paint your trim color in a white room?

The photo of the family room with the orange shelves and the disco ball is by Bailey McCarthy. I have been wanting to switch up the trim in our house, possibly by painting it the same color as the walls. It’s always fun to imagine new ways to bring life to an old house.

Thank you so much for the source, Yola! I will get in there and change it. And yes, I totally agree! Bringing new life to all things old is a true passion of mine. xo
