The most popular DIY on my site by far is my Acrylic/Lucite Rods. They add a lot of glamour and style to a room for not much money. I have used them here, here, and here.
I posted on my DIY Acrylic Rods with Plumbing Hardware awhile ago, but the Gray & Gold Nursery presented an extra challenge because I needed to turn a corner. This room has two full walls of windows, and I really wanted to join them together rather than separate the walls.
A quick trip to your local hardware store is all you need to find everything you need for this project including the plumbing parts and rubber tape. Full instructions for this DIY are here (including the paint I used), but here is a quick refresher for how to put the brackets together.
The corner turn was the tricky part, so this is how I layed it out before I spray painted it.
After some gold spray paint, the brackets were ready. That gold really pops, doesn’t it?
I chose to do the more industrial look in this nursery versus just using regular hardware because I liked the modern feel it added, and I thought a nursery was the perfect place to go off the beaten path. But also because as you can see above, the central support bracket is wide, and since these walls were longer than eight feet, I could join the two rods in the center of this bracket, and they would be nice and sturdy.
The whole effect fits the space perfectly.
Since I had only used this style of acrylic rod outside before, it was great to see how wonderful it can look inside the home!
